Understanding the Amazon FBA Digital Services Fee

Understanding the Digital Services Fee

What is the Digital Services Fee?

In October 2024, Amazon introduced a Digital Services Fee (DSF) in UK, France, Italy, Spain, and Canada; this means that businesses established or selling in these countries will see a DSF percentage increase on certain fees:
  • Selling: Referral fee, fixed closing fee, variable closing fee and get-paid-faster fee
  • Fulfilment by Amazon (UK and France only): FBA fee and shipping chargeback fee

How is the Digital Services Fee worked out?

DSF percentages by country:
  • UK: 2%*
  • France: 3%*
  • Italy, Spain or Canada***: 3%*
  • Any other country: 2%**
*Applies when selling on Amazon and Fulfilment by Amazon fees for sales in the following stores: UK, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, United States, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, Poland and Mexico.
**
Applies when Selling on Amazon and Fulfilment by Amazon fees for sales in the UK and France stores, and a digital services fee of 2% on Selling on Amazon fees for sales in the Italy, Spain and Canada stores
***As of 15th August 2025, the Digital Services fee was removed for businesses that are established in Canada or sell products in the Amazon.ca store (article here), so will not reflect in SAS

If your business is in a country without the Digital Services Fee (DSF) and you don't sell in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, or Canada, the DSF won't apply to you.

Where is the Digital Services Fee in SAS?

The SAS Profit Calculator and the Amazon Revenue Calculator both reflect the Digital Service fee in it's calculations (halfway down Total Fees in SAS, and in the last row of Amazon fees in ARC)
